It is the world that truly shapes my images, far beyond my reach.

Through the Lens of Life : Depths, Skies, and Law

  • A Journey in Diving

I hail from a Parisian suburb and was born in 1971. At the age of 14, I embarked on my first diving adventure while also beginning piloting lessons. Over the past four decades, I have logged more than 3,500 dives.

In the early 1990s, I became a certified divemaster and later a scuba instructor.

In the following decade, I expanded my horizons as an underwater photographer and joined the French Professional Photographers' Union (UPP).

  • Oceans as my Canvas

Through my lens, I aim to reveal the hidden beauty beneath the waves and to underscore the importance of preserving our oceans. By presenting the splendors of the underwater world, I hope to inspire greater awareness of the urgency to protect our blue planet.

I am a member of Longitude 181, a French organization advocating for ocean conservation through protective measures, research, awareness campaigns, and legal actions.

Longitude 181 focuses on safeguarding vulnerable marine species like sharks, rays, and sperm whales, as their well-being reflects the health of entire ecosystems. The organization also engages in public outreach, collaborates with divers, and conducts scientific expeditions to promote a harmonious relationship between humans and the ocean.

Since 2002, its “International Guidelines for Responsible Divers” – translated into 27 languages and endorsed by several diving federations worldwide – have set a standard for ethical diving. Supporting this organization means amplifying the Voice of the Ocean, a cause I deeply encourage others to join.

Over the years, some of my photographs have been highlighted at international underwater image festivals. One adorned the cover of the Paris Dive Show 2007 and in 2005 my website won the Palme d’Or at the World Underwater Pictures Festival in Antibes, where I also placed 8ᵗʰ in the international portfolio competition.

I continue to collaborate with media outlets as a freelance photo reporter and am a member of the International Association of Press Photographers and the European Committee of Journalists.

  • Between Ocean Depths, Skies, and Legal Grounds

Passionate about both sea and sky, my vocation ultimately led me to aviation, where I took to the skies as an airline pilot.

For the past 35 years, I've flown for a major French airline and I continue to actively serve as a Captain on the Boeing 777 while also holding technical responsibilities within the company, and am a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. This role allows me not only to navigate the skies but also to reach waters across the world to continue diving.

The photo above was taken from the cockpit during one of my long-haul flights while overflying the Bahamas.

Beyond diving and flying, I have pursued the legal realm, earning a Master's degree in Law from the University of La Sorbonne in Paris and continuing toward a Ph.D.

In parallel, I have taken on roles of civic responsibility: as a labor court judge since 2008, and as a Colonel in the French Air Transport Gendarmerie (GTA) in a citizen reservist capacity over the past decade, maintaining my commitment as an officer.
